Frequently Asked Questions
Most supermarket honey is blended, heat-treated, and sourced from multiple countries. Hive & Harvest sources single-origin raw honey exclusively from Queensland beekeepers. Each batch reflects the specific flowering trees and plants of its region, Hinterland mountain wildflowers, coastal gums, subtropical natives, and is minimally processed to preserve natural flavour and nutritional properties.
Raw honey is honey that hasn't been exposed to high heat during processing. Heat destroys enzymes, changes flavour, and reduces the natural properties honey is known for. Our honey is kept as close to its hive state as possible.
Yes. All Hive & Harvest honey carries the Australian Honey logo and is sourced entirely from Queensland beekeepers. No imported honey. No blending with overseas product.
Crystallisation is natural and a sign your honey is genuine and unpasteurised. To return it to a liquid state, sit the jar in warm water (not boiling) for 20–30 minutes, or leave it in a warm spot in direct sunlight. Don't microwave it.
Single origin means each jar of honey comes from one harvest, one apiary region, one season. The flavour, colour, and texture vary batch to batch depending on what's flowering. It's similar to the difference between a blended table wine and a single-vineyard vintage.

Yes. Our pure beeswax candles are made from cappings collected from our own beehives, wax we have been gathering and storing ourselves over many years, well before the varroa mite crisis changed the landscape for Australian beekeeping. This is a meaningful distinction. Most candles labelled as beeswax are blended with paraffin or other waxes, or use commercially sourced wax of unknown origin. Ours is traceable to our own hives, rendered down in our Queensland workshop, with nothing added.
Beeswax has one of the highest melt points of any natural wax, which means it burns slowly and cleanly. It produces a bright, warm flame with minimal soot or smoke. It also emits a faint, natural honey scent of its own, subtle enough not to compete with the added fragrance, but present enough to add warmth to the overall experience. It is one of the oldest and most trusted candle-making materials in the world.
The scented candles are made with a blend of natural soy wax and beeswax. Soy provides a clean, slow-burning base. Beeswax is added because it raises the melt point of the blend, which improves fragrance throw, meaning the scent carries further and more evenly through a room.
Beeswax also produces a warmer, more golden light than soy alone, and burns with very little soot. It is a natural by-product of honey production, which connects the candles directly to the rest of the Hive & Harvest range.
Every candle is hand made in our Queensland workshop. They are not mass-produced. Each one is made in small batches, which allows us to control quality at every stage, from wax temperature and fragrance load through to wick placement and finished burn performance.
The candle range includes scented Hinterland candles, as well as pure beeswax pillar candles in classic and tall sizes, and a pair of handmade beeswax taper candles.
The scented candles are made with a natural soy and beeswax blend. The pillar and taper candles are made from pure beeswax with no added fragrance.
Our honey comes in 85g Petite jars, 350g jars, and 1kg jars. The 85g Petites are popular for gifting, wedding favours and tasting. The 350g jars are our everyday size. The 1kg jar is available in our Sunshine Honey variety.
You can add a personal note at the cart page. We print it and place it inside the gift box at no extra cost. The packing slip is removed when sending directly to a recipient, so it's ready to gift as-is.
All our honey is sourced from Queensland, Australia. Our regional varieties are Hinterland, Country, Seaside, and Brisbane; each reflect the distinct flora of their landscape. Hinterland honey comes from the mountain ranges behind the Sunshine Coast; Country from inland regions west of Brisbane from bushland gums and ironbarks; Seaside from coastal gums and melaleuca of South East Queensland; Brisbane from subtropical natives and urban blooms.
The Body & Bath range is a collection of skin care products made from natural ingredients - plant-based carrier oils, essential oils, beeswax and botanical extracts. The range includes hand & body wash, botanical soap bars, a restorative beeswax balm, an aromatherapy sleep balm, a grounding essence roller and a beeswax lip balm. All products are made in Queensland.
Carrier oils are plant-derived oils used to nourish and condition the skin. Unlike essential oils, which are concentrated and aromatic, carrier oils deliver moisture and nutrients directly to the skin. The Body & Bath range uses extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, macadamia oil, castor oil and shea oil - each chosen for its ability to hydrate, soften and protect without harsh chemicals.
Most conventional body washes and soaps contain sulphates, synthetic preservatives and detergents that strip the skin's natural oils. Natural alternatives based on plant oils and essential oils cleanse gently while maintaining the skin's moisture barrier. For people with sensitive, dry or reactive skin, the difference is often immediate. Natural products also tend to have simpler ingredient lists - what's in them is readable and recognisable.
The Hand & Body Wash is specifically formulated without sulphates, synthetic foaming agents, preservatives or detergents and is noted as suitable for sensitive skin. The Restorative Balm contains only three ingredients with no added fragrance, making it one of the purest options in the range. If you have a known allergy to any specific ingredient, check the full ingredient list on each product page before purchasing.
Yes. The Body & Bath range is popular in gift boxes because the products feel considered and luxurious without being impractical. The Restorative Balm, Hand & Body Wash and Botanical Soap are all included across various Hive & Harvest gift sets - including the Bee Well Gift Set, Hinterland Ritual Gift Set and Hinterland Indulgence Gift Set. They also pair naturally with honey, candles and homewares in a curated box.
