Hinterland Garden Candle - Tomato Leaf, Basil & Wild Thyme

The kitchen garden grows in raised beds up on the hill at Maleny. Late in the afternoon you brush past the tomato vines and the smell stays on your hands, green and sharp. The basil has gone to flower and the thyme has run wild along the edges.

Tomatoes, peas, chillies, silverbeet, artichokes, radishes, and more herbs than we can use. Many of our best meals have started in those beds, and the bees always find the flowering basil and thyme before we do.

A garden asks you to be patient through the slow months, generous when everything comes in at once, and resourceful when it doesn't. Not everyone has the patch or the hours for one. You don't need a garden to cook like you have one. Light this at the bench while dinner comes together, and give your time to what's growing in your life.

We reworked the blend over several months until it smelt like that garden in the afternoon. Poured by hand in small batches in Queensland from natural soy, with beeswax from our own Maleny hives blended through for a warm, golden glow.
